Leg Lift

Guideline To Leg Lift Surgery

A Leg Lift, also known as a Thigh Lift or “Thighplasty,” is designed to rid the loose, hanging skin in the thigh and buttocks, which remains on a patient’s body following significant weight loss. A Leg lift is aimed to tighten and firm these areas improving overall body contour.

How Does The Leg Lift Procedure work:

Your surgeon will ask a number of “current health” survey questions, plus do a physical exam. Surgeons look for your overall health indicators, skin health in the target calf region, plus he’ll carefully measure both calves as well as other key and related body measurements.

Determining Your Body Symmetry.

Calf augmentation cosmetic surgery is highly individualized. Your legs will be carefully measured in order to see whether you (gastronemius muscles) have sufficient space to accept the medical grade solid silicone inserts, which come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Medical grade silicone inserts, unlike silicone gel breast implants, do not break, leak or become absorbed by surrounding tissues. After your calf measurements are taken, these measurements are compared to your arms and chest in order to create optimum symmetry and balance with your other body sections.

Leg Lift Cosmetic Surgery Technical Summary.

The procedure is performed in a outpatient facility. You may elect waist-down partial anesthesia or general anesthesia. Commonly during a Leg Lift, a 1” to 2” incision is made in the loose skin behind the knee and calf in the upper inner thigh (possibly into the lower inner thigh), and the excess skin and fat is at the surgeon’s discretion.  He will determine how much can be safely removed. Once the excess is removed, the remaining skin is closed with sutures that can be moved in about a week.  The type of incision and a patient’s resulting scar will be determined by the location and amount of excess skin and fat.  It may be limited to the upper groin crease or possibly extend to the knee area if this region requires treatment.

The procedure takes about 2-4 hours
